Equipment

  • saucepan
  • strainer
  • syrup dispenser

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups brown sugar light or dark
  • 2 tbsp bourbon vanilla bean paste Trader Joe’s

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the water and brown sugar. Stir occasionally until the sugar has completely dissolved—about 4–5 minutes.
  • Once the mixture comes to a light simmer, reduce the heat to low and let it cook for another 5–7 minutes. This will help thicken the syrup slightly and deepen the flavor.
  • Remove the pan from heat and stir in the Bourbon Vanilla Bean Paste. Mix until fully incorporated.
  • Let the syrup cool completely, then pour it into a glass jar or bottle with a tight-fitting lid. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.

Notes

  • Shake before using—it may settle slightly over time.
  • Add to cold brew, lattes, French toast, baked goods, or bourbon cocktails for a cozy twist.
